Me, Myself and I

Project 01: Pop-up Me

The first project enables me to fully explore the process of organic modeling of my head. I took photos of myself and utilized Maya as the platform for modeling. There are lots of issues encountered during the process, and one of them is the arrangement of the polygons.

At first I modeled my face with small models, however, later I realized that for low-poly modeling, there is no need to make too small polygons. Furthermore, there will be issues for improper arrangement if polyfaces.

Project02: Me, Augmented

In the second project I tried to explore different versions of myself, I made 14 images based on the 14-line poem and put them into different rendered images baked on the theme. Continuing on the first assignment that allows me to build a basic structure of the head, I finish up the head by covering it with polygons. Then I used a blender and applied shaders onto it.

The theme of this project is water, as waters have different shapes and status, which is the bridge between inorganic and organic. Here is the poem I got inspired by the status of water, the cultural myths of the water, and some of the social implications inspired by water.

Project03: Myself and I

Adapted from Argentina writer Jorge Luis Borges’ well-known text “aleph”, this project seeks to capture the instances when we encounter diverse versions of ourselves within specific time and space.

Inspired by the paradoxical space, the project delves into a surreal visual language that evokes sensations of parallel and fragmented worlds.
